Seeking a vibrant, health-oriented “2nd Private Chef" available to support our team in a private residence in San Antonio, Texas.
This role is exclusively short-term/contract work. Because we are not offering a F/T positions we are best-suited for candidates who have other clients and are looking only to supplement with additional work.
Candidates must live within a 30-mile commute to San Antonio to be considered.
Ideal candidate will be self-motivated, sociable, and be equally comfortable working alone and under the direction of our Senior Executive Chef to prepare delicious meals. The 2nd Chef will be expected to provide daily meals in both private and professional settings for Principal and small executive team.
Our Chefs must exude a passion for flavor-driven, health-supportive, high-quality, seasonally inspired cuisine, and be comfortable executing both formal and casual meals with equal attention to detail. Ideal candidate will enjoy cooking a wide array of global cuisines to satisfy the Principles worldly palate.
Essential Responsibilities and Function
- Plan menus according to Principles needs, requests, & dietary requirements, with an emphasis on optimizing & supporting health and wellness
- Chefs must be passionate about utilizing the freshest most delicious produce and crafting plant forward dishes
- Daily grocery shopping, meal prep, table service and clean up of service
- Prepare a range of cuisines according to varying dietary restrictions and requirements of guests and Principal. Our Chefs must be knowledgeable in pescatarian, GF, vegetarian, vegan, and low glycemic diets.
- Stay up to date on current food trends and holistic health news.
- Knowledge of wine, food and wine pairings, and wine service
- Organize, stock pantries and maintain kitchen and service standards as set by Senior Executive Chef
- Food Safe Certified, HACCP protocol, maintain the highest food safety and sanitation standards
Education & Experience Preferred
- Minimum 2-4 years experience as Personal/Private Chef
- Formal Culinary degree/training preferred
- High end catering and/or fine dining restaurant experience required

- Adaptability to last minute changes in schedule and meal plans, embraces challenges and improvisation, demonstrates creative problem solving
- Formal nutrition education not required, though is helpful. Self-education in these fields also considered an asset
Physical & Other Requirements
- Stand for an extended period
- Lift 20lbs or more on a regular basis
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work extended hours
- Use arms/hands/back in repetitive motion during shifts
- Travel days/hours (mostly by car) outside of cooking hours
Schedule
- Will Vary,but typically 3-4 days at a time
- Lunch and Dinner service only
