Job Description: We are currently seeking a Day Delivery Driver to service our Charleston route. The driver will pick up the tractor at 3166 Ancrum Road, Ladson, SC, and subsequently proceed to Averitt Express, located at 7749 Palmetto Commerce Parkway, Charleston. The journey from Penske to Averitt Express typically takes approximately 10 minutes. The start time is 6:00 AM with an anticipated arrival at Averitt in Charleston no later than 6:30 AM. The workday continues until all deliveries are completed. The driver will be responsible for assisting with the unloading of a 53-foot trailer at Averitt and the reload of a 36-foot trailer. This role involves handling touch freight with a pallet jack and unloading at customer locations using a lift-gate trailer. Daily backhaul pickups are included.

Schedule: - MWF, the route covers the Charleston area.
- TU/THU, the route covers Hilton Head and Savannah.
Truck Driver Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Fully understand how to operate and safely drive a tractor trailer.
- Transport goods from the place of origin to assigned destination.
- Pick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical manner.
- Ensure contents are properly secured inside of the truck to prevent breakage or damage.
- Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations.
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries with customers.
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate with dispatch as needed.
- Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document.
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions.
- Comply with DOT regulations and make safety a priority at all times.
Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications: - Valid Class A driver s license required
- Hazmat endorsement preferred
- 1 years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred.
- Clean driving record with no more than 1 moving violation.
- Must pass a background check and DOT drug and alcohol test.
- Skilled at driving large vehicles
- Comfortable maneuvering, parking and backing a tractor-trailer.
- Alert, focused, and detail oriented.
- Proficient using GPS and E-log systems.
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
