Overview:
The Intermediate Care Unit at Mercy Ardmore is a critical care unit that manages the care of critically ill patients that are less acute than the ICU patients. We care for patients that are recovering from or still suffering from respiratory failure, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, CHF exacerbation or a myriad of other illnesses that require respiratory support. We use cardiac drips like Cardizem and amiodarone drips. We are the Code Blue and Rapid Response Team of the hospital.
Some of the many procedures and skills we see daily/weekly are: NGT placement, foley placement, and PIV placement. We assist physicians with Central Line placement, Arterial Line placement, Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, Chest Tube placement, Temporary Pacemaker placement, bedside Bronchoscopy, and bedside GI procedures.
Our team is like family, and we work hard together. We celebrate together, pray together and sometimes we mourn together. But we do all things together as a team. We believe our faith is the center of our work and safe patient care with excellence and compassion is what we strive for.
