The Avera Behavioral Health Senior Unit is a 20 bed unit that provides a welcoming, calming and healing environment to our patients as well as their families. The Senior unit’s environment is an active and challenging care environment that requires critical thinking and at the same time values autonomous professional nursing practice.

- This Registered Nurse position is a unique opportunity to get both medical and mental health experience as many of the patients have medical comorbidities requiring medical nursing care as well.

- Enhance interpersonal skills while also performing duties may entail IVs, blood draws, catheter insertions, respiratory treatments, wound care

Job Summary
- The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the hospital and nursing home infection prevention program in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) works closely with the Department Director in solving unit problems, providing adequate staff, assuring appropriate training experiences, evaluating equipment and supply purchases and improving unit processes.
Education and/or Experience
- Graduate of Registered Nursing (RN) Education program.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Must have current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of SD or “multi-state privilege” to practice in SD if residing in a compact state outside of SD.
- Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification or completion upon next available program.
