Established in 2020 in the New York City Metropolitan Area, they are experiencing rapid growth and seek a System Hardware Engineer for their New Providence, NJ labs.
As part of their team, you will collaborate with renowned opto-electronic industry experts, utilizing cutting-edge high-speed opto-electronic lab equipment. Your role involves characterizing and testing the densest 100G and 200G PAM-4 optical modules, configuring advanced DSP-based SerDes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. You'll conduct system tests with leading manufacturers and operators, troubleshoot hardware issues alongside integrated optics and electronics teams, and contribute to comprehensive documentation updates in our dynamic technical environment.
Job Description: System Test Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work within a world-class team of opto-electronic industry experts, using advanced high-speed opto-electronic lab equipment to bring up, extensively characterize, and test 100G and 200G PAM-4 optical modules for ML/AI applications.
- Characterize high-speed analog ICs and configure DSP-based SerDes from major vendors to interface with our modules.
- Ensure module compliance with IEEE Ethernet, OIF CEI, PCIe Gen5/6 standards and customer specifications. Develop test benches and specifications for production testing.
- Conduct system tests with leading ML/AI, datacom, and telecom system manufacturers. Collaborate on hardware issue resolutions with integrated optics and high-speed electronics teams.
- Analyze and interpret measurement results to guide product definition, design, and debugging efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or applied physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in experimentally characterizing DSP-based high-speed optical communication systems.
- Proficiency with optical and high-speed electronics test and measurement equipment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with Python tools for scientific computing, ADS simulations, and high-speed optical Ethernet (100G, 200G), PCIe Gen 5/6 is advantageous.
