This position is responsible for supporting existing customer technical projects, coupled with new customer opportunities by managing the customer technical service team and driving chemical and analytical innovation. The candidate will possess proven technical expertise, leadership skills, management of multiple concurrent projects, and the ability to draw technical conclusions by processing information quickly and concisely. This role will require managing and mentoring technical personnel in a high throughput and challenging environment. The position also requires technical writing skills, with appropriate field application knowledge, and the ability to review and present complex data and recommendations to current and potential customers. This individual must possess the ability to engage with technical representatives from current and potential customer base.
Essential Functions
- Support the region in business development and maintenance of existing accounts By providing technical solutions and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Support the technical requirements of region sales and management staff.
- Network with Technical Representatives within the Company and other areas for best practice skills and product knowledge sharing.
- Delegate projects to subordinates that are commensurate with the individual’s experience and ability, while providing support where needed.
- Undertake production system surveys and problem diagnoses.
- Chemical selection and application, preparation, and presentation of technical recommendations to customers, and chemical selection validation
- Be conversant about in-field petroleum production practices.
- Lead programs as directed by technical management to address industry, customer, and sales / business initiatives.
- Customer/Site visits to support sales force and enhance presence within existing accounts and to capture new customers to increase sales.
- Knowledge for screening all Innospec product lines for the purpose of selecting appropriate application.
- Improving and understanding product formulation/troubleshooting.
- Ability to effectively communicate information about company products to operations groups as well as potential and existing customers.
- Ability to perform failure analysis and process hazards analysis making necessary recommendations for adjustments to chemical programs as needed.
- Coordinate with the appropriate department head and utilize the internal network for the preparation of technical proposals.
- Proven leadership of diverse technical teams.
- Emphasize the importance of working in a safe and efficient manner, through IOS JHTZ initiatives.
- Training and mentorship of subordinate technical staff members.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM field with general chemistry, quantitative analysis, and organic chemistry courseload
- 10-15 years of related industry experience
- Intimate knowledge of Oilfield Production Testing methodologies.
- Proven subject matter expert (SME) in at least one type of production chemical product line.
- Previous product formulation background
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
- 10-15% travel
- Must reside in Midland / Odessa or within reasonable commuting distance.
