Job Description Primary Naproom and After-school Assistant
(3-6 year olds)
Position: Primary Naproom and After School Assistant (Ages 3-6)
Location: Providence Montessori School, Lexington, KY
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Compensation: $15/hour with the potential to earn $18/hour after one year of employment
Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Head of School, and in collaboration with the Primary Naproom/After-School Coordinator, the Assistant will help develop and enhance the Primary Naproom and After-School Program, ensuring it meets each student's individual needs.
Key Naproom Responsibilities
- Physical Demands include kneeling, crouching, and sitting on the floor; must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Assist in setting up and taking down nap room cots, bathroom breaks, and managing occasional potty accidents.
- Guide 3-6-year-olds in transitioning to and from nap areas in a calm and orderly manner.
- Monitor and Comfort children during nap time and supervise quiet activities.
- Cell Phone Policy: Refrain from using a cell phone while supervising children.
- Collaborate, communicate with, and follow directions from the Nap Room Coordinator and other colleagues.
- Support and Encourage positive social interactions
Key After-School Responsibilities
- Physical Demands include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and sitting on the floor; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Supervise groups of 3-6-year-olds on the playground or designated indoor play areas.
- Assist in setting up and storing indoor activities.
- Light Cleaning: Participate in end-of-day tasks, such as sweeping or vacuuming.
- Assist children with bathroom breaks and handle occasional potty accidents.
- Support and encourage positive social interactions
- Cell Phone Policy: Refrain from using a cell phone while supervising children.
- Collaborate, communicate with, and follow directions from the After-school Coordinator and other colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a genuine love for children and a passion for education.
- Previous experience working with children preferred, especially in a Montessori or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and engage positively with families.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
