Our client is seeking an experienced probate administration paralegal to join the team in San Diego. Experience in Probate is required. Familiarity in Trust Administrations is preferred; however, the team is willing to train the right person if they have a willingness to learn and demonstrate dedication to the role.
Salary: $75,000-$110,000 (depending on experience)
Requirements:
- 2-5+ years of experience in probate estate legal support
- Must be familiar with preparing judicial council forms, supplements, declarations, petitions, affidavits, and basic assessor/recorder's office forms.
- Basic understanding of how a Trust works and what is required to do when someone dies.
- Comfortability with probate accounting and researching the California Probate Code is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Review and summarize intake and estate planning documents.
- Prepare initial drafts of pleadings and petitions.
- Prepare and serve notice documents to interested parties and government agencies.
- Analyze financial statements and prepare inventory and estate accountings.
- Prepare real property transfer documents and related county forms.
- Communicate and correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and formal agencies.
- Utilize the Court's online services to investigate case dockets, probate notes, and local rules.
- Filing documents with the Court, including e-filing and ex parte procedures.
- Preparing case files for hearings.
- Assist with other administrative tasks in the office.
Qualifications
- Ability to learn and adapt to new courts' and judge's rules and procedures.
- Must be CLE compliant and able to bill hourly.
- A notary license is a plus but not required.
