The New Mexico Municipal League/New Mexico Self-Insurers’ Fund (NMML/NMSIF) is seeking an experienced, full-time Claims Supervisor to oversee and manage the review, processing, investigation, and disposition of claims related to various Fund policies and programs, including automobile, property, workers’ compensation, general liability, civil rights, and law enforcement.
The New Mexico Self-Insurers' Fund offers Workers' Compensation, general liability, law enforcement, civil rights, errors and omissions, auto liability, auto physical damage, and property and volunteer coverage to municipalities and other public entities.
Job Responsibilities
Oversees claims processing, investigations, payments, and settlements, ensuring compliance with New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Act and other applicable regulations.
Manages activities of team of claims adjusters.
Collaborates with adjusters and staff to resolve claims efficiently and fairly.
Manages the review and processing of medical bills, property reports, and payments.
Provides training to insured members.
Sets professional development goals for staff and hold regular staff meetings.
Reviews claims for compliance and ensures accurate documentation using the Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
Evaluates contracts and reserves to ensure proper allocation of resources.
Submits required reports to the Workers’ Compensation Administration and ensures compliance with reporting regulations.
Required Skills & Abilities
Expertise in claims management, including workers’ compensation, property, and casualty.
Knowledge of the NMWC Statutes (52-1-1 NMSA 1978) and the NM Workers’ Compensation Act.
Familiarity with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS).
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in providing training and managing professional development for staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, professionals, department heads, co-workers, and the public.
Strong negotiation skills and technical writing abilities.
Capable of working independently and overseeing staff in compliance with statutory obligations.
Required Education & Qualifications
Licensed as an adjustor in the State of New Mexico under Section 18-40.
At least five years of relevant experience.
Management experience overseeing Workers' Compensation and Property & Casualty programs.
Knowledge of insurance industry standards and practices related to claims management.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred
Work Location
Primary work location is the NMML/NMSIF office in Santa Fe. This is a full-time, in-person role.
Compensation
Pay range is $120,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, including automatic 10 percent retirement contribution from the employer, and up to an additional 8 percent matching contribution.
