Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located anywhere in Texas for a Travel Demand Modeler. The Travel Demand Modeler will be responsible for performing travel demand forecasting and analysis, developing travel models, analyzing and interpreting results, and communicating findings to stakeholders. The Travel Demand Modeler will also work closely with fellow planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project delivery. Potential employees should be self-starters and inquisitive about problem solving and technological challenges.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, City and Regional Planning, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience with travel demand modeling software, such as TransCAD, VISUM, or Cube Voyager
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and programming languages such as Python and R
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze socio-economic and land use data and draw insightful conclusions
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with transportation planning projects and/or urban planning projects is a plus
- Experience with environmental and social justice analyses is a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understands travel behavior, travel demand modeling and forecasting
- Forecast traffic for future year conditions and conduct data analysis
- Communicate clearly and concisely, with strong writing and presentation skills
