Expert, authority in discipline typically with an advanced degree and 12+ years experience or bachelors with 14+ years experience or equivalent; applies advanced concepts, theories, and principles and contributes toward the development of new principles and concepts; works unusually complex problems with consultative direction; erroneous decisions would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to major organizational objectives and damage the image of the organization’s technological capability; advises top management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications; managerial/leadership experience or necessary skills.
Required Experience/Skillset
TS/SCI required to start. Candidate must possess an understanding of systems engineering process and principles. A successful applicant should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions. Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).
Candidates should also have experience in with developing large, complex software systems. Candidates should have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions. Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral) as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project. Desired skills include experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model Based System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization, Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles.
Demonstrated experience working large multi-site software development efforts including external interface development
Demonstrated experience executing under Federal Acquisition Regulations including Operational Concept development, Requirements, System Decomposition, Standards Compliance, Design, Implementation and Selloff
Demonstrated experience conducting or leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies and/or Design Evaluations
Familiarity with cyber, platform and network architecture technologies, dependencies and design drivers
Travel supporting program reviews and customer meetings to CONUS sites including Huntsville, AL and Shriever SFB expected.
Desired experience designing large command and control and/or weapon systems
Desired experience processing radar sensor data
Desired experience with near real time processing, persistence and distributed user community
Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. Position will also provide mentoring to junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the department. Works with the enterprise test architect to enable system sell off of capabilities as required. Candidate needs to have the ability to be flexible to support various tasking on short notice.
