Job Description
SOSi is seeking qualified subject matter expert to work in the Office of the Secretary of Defense – Defense Innovation Acceleration Office that responds to quick-reaction Department of Defense (DoD) and national requirements. Defense Innovation Acceleration Office is organized to facilitate the strategic prototyping, demonstration and deployment of innovative capabilities and technologies that require special handling or address the needs of classified customers. The office provides enabling and enduring capability solutions through rapid prototyping and technology development and fielding to solve complex joint and coalition urgent needs. The office’s operating principles are designed to expedite the development and fielding of capabilities to support immediate and near-term needs to impact the current fight and long-term needs to address future threats in an uncertain future. DIA Office supports the USD(R&E) vision for an era of competition to champion research, science, technology, engineering and innovation. This includes initiating new technology development, rapid experimentation in relevant mission environments, and rapid transitions to the user communities. The office also supports the OUSD(R&E) seed areas of emerging opportunity: biotechnology; quantum science; future generation wireless technology (FutureG); and advanced materials. In addition, the office supports the effective adoption areas of trusted artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomy, integrated network systems-of-systems, microelectronics, space technology, renewable energy generation and storage, advanced computing and software, and human-machine interfaces. DIA Office also supports the defense-specific areas of directed energy, hypersonics, and integrated sensing and cyber.
Essential Job Duties
- Designs, assesses, develops, formulates and evaluates test plans for candidate technologies, integrated technologies, and capabilities.
- Analyzes alternatives, assesses objectives, proposes key objectives (e.g., demonstrating performance metrics), evaluates performance, utility, and potential applications during testing, assesses technology readiness levels (TRLs) demonstrated, verify reported performance, evaluates actual demonstrated performance, and reprioritize efforts accordingly.
- Produce monthly Special Access Program (SAP) reports and monthly technical project test assessment report
- Conduct program demonstration and experimentation analysis of alternatives
Qualifications
- Active Top-Secret w/Sensitive Compartmented Information access; eligible for Special Access Program read on; willing to submit to a counterintelligence polygraph if required.
- Master’s degree or higher in engineering or other technological discipline.
- 20 + years in an engineering or other related field;
- Subject Matter Expert in evaluating, designing evaluating test plans.
- Subject Matter Expert in testing candidate technologies and capabilities.
- Subject Matter Expert in alternative analysis.
- Subject Matter Expert in developing technology performance metrics to evaluate industry developments for consideration by the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.
- Subject Matter Expert in evaluating performance, utility and potential applications during testing.
Preferred Qualifications
Department of Defense or military experience desired; experience in capability development, technology transition, and acquisition a plus.
