MISSION: Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls Charter School, The Shirley Rodriguez-Remeneski School (“BGLIG,” pronounced Big League) will provide an exceptional education to young girls through dual language instruction in a technology-rich environment, while building on cultural heritage to foster leadership characteristics and strong values, promote self-confidence and create global leaders. Through highly motivated and accomplished teachers, our students will receive a standards-based, research-proven, technology-infused curriculum focusing on core subjects that will create a strong foundation for life-long learning.

Position Overview
At Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls Charter School, Assistant Principal understands and promote the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Assistant Principal is responsible for providing an instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in a dual language setting, in accordance with the school’s mission and values established by its charter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
- Develops school’s ability to foster a culturally responsive classroom
- Collaborates with curriculum team to plan and execute curriculum and instruction that fosters student growth, creativity, and agency through aligned, culturally relevant materials and pedagogy
- Collaborates with the principal to plan and execute curriculum and instruction that is culturally relevant and fosters student growth, creativity, and agency through aligned, culturally relevant materials and pedagogy
- Supports partnership with teachers and special education team to ensure that all students have the access and support needed to achieve
- Partners in leading a culture that results in a love of learning, student agency, and full range of student learning and growth
- Supports staff and students to demonstrate consistent values and positive behaviors aligned to the BGLIG’s mission
- Observes and coaches instructional staff leading to pedagogical growth and student achievement
- Plans and leads professional development that results in improved pedagogy and student achievement
- Creates and executes coaching plans and evaluations to ensure the development of instructional staff
- Supports and strengthens a data-driven culture that seeks continuous improvement
- Establishes, fosters, and sustains a culture of academic success and social-emotional development through partnerships with students, staff, families, and community
- Fosters and sustains a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for scholars, families, and staff
- Engages families and communities in support of child’s learning and school learning goals, and supports teammates in building family partnerships
- Works collaboratively with and leads team for student recruitment
- Performs other duties as assigned by Principal
Qualifications:
- Alignment to BGLIG’s core values and mission.
- Masters Degree in the field of education perferred
- NYS Building Leader certification preferred.
- Supervisory experience in elementary or middle grades with a proven track-record of high achievement.
- Experience in a high performing charter or district school preferred but not required.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Strong knowledge of Common Core.
- Strong knowledge of the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff.
- Intermediate to advanced Spanish language skills preferred.
- Experience in a dual language setting preferred.
- Proficient in use of technology, including various G Suite teaching tools.
