Reid and Riege, P.C., a mid-sized Connecticut law firm with well-established Single Employer Benefits & Pension and Multiemployer Benefit Plans practices, seeks a self-motivated associate with at least one to five years of ERISA experience to join our downtown Hartford office. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with a strong work ethic and the ability to foster client relationships to work with, and possibly succeed, senior attorneys.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Experience with a broad range of single employer and/or multiemployer benefits matters, such as designing, drafting, and providing support for defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, employee stock ownership plans, employee welfare plans, cafeteria plans and executive compensation plans.
• Counselling plan sponsors, fiduciaries and other plan professionals on compliance requirements and fiduciary best practices, including plan governance and administration
• Conducting research and analysis on laws related to single employer and/or multiemployer benefits plans, including ERISA, Internal Revenue Code (IRC), Affordable Care Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA), Mental Health Parity, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and related claims and appeal processes
• Managing and prioritizing workload efficiently without excessive supervision
