Huron Law Group is an established and rapidly growing national debt defense law firm focused on providing cost-effective legal representation to consumers. Our firm is currently seeking a remote, of counsel (contract/freelance) attorney, licensed in the state of Hawaii, to provide representation and limited-scope legal assistance to consumer clients involved in debt collection lawsuits. This position is ideal for a solo practitioner or part-time attorney looking to generate additional income, while retaining autonomy and flexible hours.
Responsibilities will include representing and defending clients in collection cases initiated by original creditors or debt buyers and, for clients who engage the firm in a narrower capacity, providing limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm’s paralegals. This position will rarely require complex litigation and/or attendance at final hearings, as clients are enrolled in a debt resolution program, and typically desire to settle through voluntary payment arrangements with the creditors. Where attendance at a hearing becomes necessary, the attorney will have the option of attending for additional pay or asking the firm to secure local coverage counsel.
This position is fully remote, enabling the attorney to telecommute from any location, with extremely flexible hours. However, consistent email communication and occasional remote attendance at meetings will be required. Payment will be on a flat fee per task basis, via monthly direct deposit, and will also include a monthly retainer..
