Title: Networks Design Consultant
Location: Remote (must be local to Akron, OH, Reading, PA, or Greensburg, PA for occasional meetings)
Duration: 11-month contract
Overview:
The Networks Design Consultant will support the Communications Engineering team, responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of RF communication systems, circuits, and supporting infrastructure such as DC power and backup systems. The role ensures system reliability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Network Engineering & Operations (NEO) team to deliver voice, video, and computing services.
- Maintain reliability and availability of communication systems.
- Provide technical support for Field Area Network device deployments and manage in-service assets.
- Manage network documentation, communications requests, and GIS mapping of transport assets.
- Participate in technology installations, upgrades, and ongoing network maintenance.
- Ensure regulatory and technical standards compliance for assigned projects.
- Author, edit, and manage departmental policies, procedures, and technical documents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Networking, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat for technical writing and document management.
- Knowledge of network circuit design, RF communication, and infrastructure support systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTUs, circuit management tools, and project management concepts.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with test equipment, cellular signal boosters, telephony systems, and environmental support systems.
- Knowledge of document management principles and tools (e.g., FileNet Content Navigator).
- 4-7 years of professional experience for Level III.
