Summary/Objective
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance department, including personnel management, resource allocation, and strategic planning. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant equipment and facilities through effective maintenance practices and processes.
Essential Functions
Departmental Leadership:
Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the maintenance team, including technicians, supervisors, and support staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop and communicate departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics, aligning them with organizational priorities and business objectives.
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and extend asset life.
Coordinate with production, engineering, and other departments to develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule, ensuring that maintenance activities are scheduled and executed efficiently to support production operations.
Responsible for maintenance programs such as CMMS administrator, PM program, Work order management and product data management program.
Resource Management:
Manage departmental budgets, allocating resources effectively to meet maintenance needs while optimizing costs and maximizing return on investment (ROI)
Oversee spare parts and inventory management, ensuring that critical spare parts are available when needed and that inventory levels are maintained within budgetary constraints.
Provide leadership and accountability over 3 shifts. Flexibility in scheduling and on-call as needed to support the leadership team and resource management needs.
Performance Management:
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to maintenance staff, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.
Identify training and development needs for maintenance personnel, coordinating with training managers to implement training programs that enhance technical and leadership skills within the maintenance team.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices related to maintenance activities.
Conduct safety audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing maintenance processes, increasing equipment reliability, and reducing costs.
Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that services are delivered according to agreed-upon terms and standards.
Evaluate vendor performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure that vendors meet quality, cost, and performance expectations and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 7 years of experience in maintenance management or a related leadership role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems, with demonstrated proficiency in maintenance best practices and methodologies.
- Excellent leadership and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals.
- Proven ability to develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize equipment reliability and performance.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices related to maintenance operations
- Proven ability to lead CapEx projects up to $1MM, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
