Job Summary
- Position: R&D Engineering Manager
- Reports to: Vice President
- Location: North America Corporate Headquarters, Miramar, FL
The role of the R&D Engineering Manager is to manage the Research & Development Team and initiate strategic activities in R&D and Product Design. The R&D Engineering Manager will interface directly with the Quality, Methods, Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Marketing departments in order to facilitate development of new projects and products. The position requires a global vision with an extensive focus on the details that ultimately are key to the success of investments in new products or markets. A culture of innovation, continuous improvements and collaboration drives the ambitious objectives of CITEL, and the candidate will thrive within this type of environment.
About The Position
- Develop strategic initiatives for the R&D department
- Work independently to manage projects, procedure compliance and team member activities
- Provide technical guidance to R&D engineering team and relevant departments
- Establish or implement best practice engineering methods for the R&D engineering team
- Create technical reports, documents and new procedures
- Collaborate with Quality, Methods, Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Marketing Departments for new and existing products for both domestic and international projects
- Oversee the progress and timeliness of projects
- Review project reports to ensure they are on schedule and within budget
- Coordinate teams’ participation in Industry Standard Committees or Associations to monitor technical and regulatory changes
- Reporting departmental activities to management
- Grow size and skills of the team
- Performs related duties as required
Your Background
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years relevant experience desired and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Surge Protection and/or power related experience is a plus
- Demonstrate technical competence on all products/solutions within area of focus
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development
- Self-motivated with ability to recognize opportunities and to learn and adapt quickly
- Able to work comfortably in a leadership role or as an integral team member
- Experience presenting to customers and team members in virtual or in-person meetings
- Self-motivated and organized
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Bilingual skills in French or Spanish are a plus
- Adept at domestic and international travel
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and Virtual Meeting Platforms
- Proficient in LTspice simulations and modelling
- Proficient in 3D CAD to review the creation and update of part drawings
- Proficient in financial calculations related to product cost and department budgets
