As we expand, we are seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Director to join our leadership team and take charge of optimizing our supply chain and fleet management operations.
Position Overview:
As the Supply Chain Director, you will lead the strategic planning, optimization, and performance analysis of our supply chain with a primary focus on fleet management and logistics. Working closely with the Director of Purchasing, you will ensure that all transportation and logistics operations align with the company's goals, meet performance metrics, and adhere to regulatory and safety standards. This is a pivotal leadership role that requires expertise in supply chain management, transportation logistics, cost control, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet and Transportation Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the company’s private fleet, ensuring maximum delivery efficiency, load planning, and on-time performance.
- Freight Management Expertise: Assess their experience in managing private fleets and freight operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, carrier management, and freight optimization.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, and labor. Implement cost-saving initiatives to improve financial performance without compromising service quality.
- Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all fleet and transportation activities (both domestic and international) comply with relevant industry regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term fleet management and supply chain strategies to support business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Performance Metrics: Collaborate with the Supply Chain Analyst to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fleet performance, delivery times, and logistics efficiency. Use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Logistics Optimization: Work on load planning, route optimization, and other logistics strategies to maximize the efficiency of transportation operations.
- Negotiation Skills: Find strong negotiation abilities with carriers and vendors to secure favorable rates and terms.
- Supply Chain Mode Evaluation: Evaluate various supply chain modes (road, rail, air, etc.) to determine the most effective supply and distribution methods, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the transportation and logistics team, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Purchasing and other departments to align supply chain goals with overall business objectives, including inventory management, procurement, and customer service.
- ERP Utilization: Leverage ERP systems and other supply chain management tools to improve operational efficiency and data reporting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 7-10 years of experience in supply chain management, with a focus on fleet management, logistics, or transportation in a non-manufacturing environment.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading high-performance teams and driving change in fast-paced, growing organizations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, fleet management software, logistics planning tools, and KPI reporting.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and use insights to drive operational improvements and cost savings.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to think critically and develop long-term strategies for supply chain and fleet optimization.
