Position: Director of Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Location: Just outside Alexandria, VA
Salary: Up to $160,000 per year, plus bonus, sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the L&D department in a 180+ bed hospital with a growing Women’s program.
- Supervise a team consisting of 2 Assistant Nurse Directors, and manage L&D suites, Post-Partum, and Ante-Partum units.
- Ensure effective management of about 100 deliveries per month.
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on strategic initiatives and program development.
- Staff Development:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, including Assistant Nurse Directors and other team members.
- Promote ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital standards.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor outcomes to maintain high standards of care.
- Patient Care:
- Advocate for patient safety and high-quality care across the department.
- Address and resolve any patient care issues or concerns effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. Advanced degree (MSN or DNP) preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience:
- Strong background in Labor & Delivery with significant experience in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing L&D operations, including oversight of Post-Partum and Ante-Partum care.
- Experience with a similar volume of deliveries and departmental size is preferred.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex situations effectively.
