Job Overview: The Network Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and connectivity across multiple locations. This role is critical in supporting both office-based and field-based employees, providing network services to enhance productivity and ensure seamless communication. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in network management and troubleshooting, as well as experience in maintaining secure and reliable networks for a business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Management: Oversee and maintain all network components (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless networks, etc.), ensuring high availability and reliability.
- System Monitoring: Monitor network performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot connectivity problems to minimize downtime and enhance system efficiency.
- Security Administration: Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and data protection policies to safeguard sensitive company information.
- Hardware and Software Maintenance: Manage and support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
- User Support: Provide technical support to users, diagnosing and resolving network-related issues, including remote access and connectivity problems for offsite employees.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed network documentation, including system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides to ensure network continuity.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team and other departments to support overall IT operations and ensure network systems meet company needs.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for network systems, ensuring swift recovery in case of network failure or security incidents.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and legal regulations, particularly in data privacy and cybersecurity.
Skills:
- Network Expertise: Proficiency in managing and maintaining LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks, including TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
- Security Focused: Strong knowledge of firewalls, encryption, and network security best practices.
- Troubleshooting: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network performance and security issues.
- Communication: Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical team members and end-users.
- Time Management: Effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Adaptability: Stay updated with new technologies and advancements in networking solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role.
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and network management tools.
- Experience with security protocols and data protection best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure), Microsoft 365 and integration with business networks is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift a minimum 25 pounds at times to handle network hardware installation and maintenance.
- Ability to travel to multiple office and project locations for network setup, troubleshooting, and support when necessary.
- Occasional availability outside of regular business hours for system updates, maintenance, or critical issues.
