Overview:
- As a manufacturing engineer at our client, you will apply your engineering skills and expertise to create, develop and execute manufacturing processes for assemblies related to machine structures, complex mechanisms, electrical panels and cabinets, and custom automated machinery involved in the manufacturing of novel pharmaceutical products. Our team-oriented work environment provides in-house access to a wide range of state-of-the-art prototyping and fabrication equipment, extensive engineering material and component inventory to experiment and build with, personalized CAD workstation, and multiple workspaces that foster creativity and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products, modifications, and improvements for robotic equipment and medical device consumables.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for fixture designs, manufacturing work instructions, Bill of Materials, inventory management and change management
- Provide support to a team of technicians including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise
- Provide support to a design engineering team, including contributing to DFM reviews, PFMEA reviews, reviewing drawings for new parts/assemblies and providing valuable input based on engineering fundamentals.
- Work with design teams to ensure manufacturability of processes, operator safety, ergonomics and assist in resolving any issues
- Develop and execute improvements to in-house tools, equipment and material flow
- Bring-up assembly stations for new in-house assemblies by leading new equipment and tooling installation and qualification
- Design fixtures to improve control of process parameters, ease of assembly and throughput.
- Periodically interface with vendors to assist in resolving issues with externally procured parts or assemblies.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks, Onshape and/or AutoCAD is a plus)
- First principles problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, driven individual capable of working independently and in team settings
- Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with GD&T, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance and OSHA compliance a plus
- Familiarity with clean room procedures and associated equipment
- Familiarity with 6-axis robots and motion controlled automated systems
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings for mechanical and electrical systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in related STEM field (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing engineering preferred)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in engineering role
- Excellent analytical skills; spreadsheet and database management skills; strong general computer skills
