Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Buyer to join their team, responsible for procuring raw materials and goods from external vendors for internal use or resale. The ideal candidate will excel in evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality goods at competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze raw material requisitions and assess supplier quotes.
- Lead strategic supplier negotiations and manage purchase order approvals.
- Negotiate blanket purchase orders and supply agreements, focusing on payment terms, pricing, and logistics.
- Address commercial aspects of supply chain shortages, spot buys, and lead times.
- Collaborate on quality issues with suppliers and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain accurate supplier spend data and part attributes (lead time, standard pack, MOQ, cost, etc.).
- Work closely with finance to manage credit issues with suppliers.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives and projects, applying project management skills.
- Support commercial departments in cost reduction initiatives with customers.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health regulations as set by relevant stakeholders and internal policies.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the automotive or railway industries.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in sourcing tools and techniques, including RFPs, RFQs, and bidding processes.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
