Primary Purpose:
The role focuses on staff development of charter adopted alternate curriculum for SLC teachers, collaborating with teachers to set measurable objectives and enhance evidence based instructional skills through data analysis followed by targeted coaching and feedback. It also involves analyzing student data to inform instructional strategies, developing support materials, and staying updated on relevant research. Additionally, the SLC/Transition Coordinator will conduct audits, attend mandatory trainings, and ensure compliance with education policies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree from accredited university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three years of SPED teaching experience in subject area assigned
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Staff Development
1. Work collaboratively with SLC teachers charter wide to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning. 2. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of SLC teacher instructional skills through coaching behavior specialists and collaborative problem solving on the use of district adopted alternative curriculum.
3. Evaluate SLC teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.
4. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of transition related instruction through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
5. Observe transition instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
Instructional and Program Management
6. Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
7. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to SLC teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
8. Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
9. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
Other
10. Conduct SPP Indicator Audits.
11. Attend mandatory TED trainings as outlined by TEA
12. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
13. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
14. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
15. Any and all other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
