My client, a general contracting firm, is seeking a Project Engineer/Estimator to join their team and take a key role in estimating for commercial construction projects. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career estimator with a solid foundation in commercial general contracting who is looking to advance toward a Project Manager role.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
- Project Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects, including material and labor costs, timelines, and project scopes.
- Procurement & Buy-Outs: Source materials and complete buy-outs for contractors and vendors, ensuring cost efficiency and timely availability of resources.
- Contractor Negotiations: Coordinate with contractors, negotiating terms and securing subcontractor agreements that align with project objectives.
- Schedule Adherence: Maintain strict adherence to project schedules, working closely with the project team to ensure timely project completion.
- Cost Management: Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle, flagging any variances and implementing adjustments to stay within budget.
- Collaboration with Project Team: Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure seamless project execution, accurate resource allocation, and continuous communication.

- Experience: 2-3 years in estimating within commercial general contracting.
- Procurement Expertise: Strong skills in material procurement, contractor and vendor buy-outs, and budget management.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven experience negotiating terms with contractors and vendors.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiar with project management software (e.g., Procore or similar) and proficient in Excel and other estimating tools.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines.
