Job Description
D2 is seeking a Vice President ("VP") to join its investment team in Dallas or New York. The qualified candidate will have an investor’s mindset, capable of forming well-reasoned views with a desire for broad exposure to various asset classes and sectors. They should be adaptable, willing to take on multiple roles and possess a proactive attitude.
The VP will be directly involved in all facets of the investment process, including thesis development, sourcing, financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, industry research, legal documentation, portfolio construction, preparation of internal information and investment materials, portfolio monitoring and risk management. Given D2’s investment approach, the VP will evaluate opportunities from a wide variety of perspectives and propose investment structures across the capital structure and strategies, including secured debt, unsecured debt, convertible debt, preferred equity, growth equity, JV partnerships, asset-based finance, or a combination thereof.
The VP will interact directly with external parties including management teams, bankers, strategic partners and service providers. The VP will also be expected play a leadership role in the organization by training and mentoring Associates. This is a highly visible role with direct access to D2’s senior leadership, and the VP will often be expected to work on all aspects of the firm’s business.
Qualifications
- Superior academic achievement and a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science or a related field is required
- Minimum 6+ years of finance experience with direct exposure to specialty finance, asset-based finance, corporate credit, real estate and structured products
- Prior buyside experience strongly preferred; financial institutions group (FIG) / securitization / real estate / structured credit investment banking required
- Strong finance, accounting, presentation and valuation skills
- Sophisticated financial modeling and analytical capabilities including data manipulation, database design and statistical analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate an ability to distill complex analysis into a clear, concise articulation of investment thesis, risk and relative value
- Self-motivated and driven; ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast moving, demanding and dynamic environment
- Evidence of intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving skills and adaptability
- Strong ethics and integrity, an ownership mentality, open-mindedness and receptiveness to feedback, and analytical/results-oriented
