We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to join our extraordinary Technology Team. This role can work as hybrid from our Phoenix site or work remotely with occasional travel to AZ.
As Data Engineering Manager on our Enterprise Technology team, you will
contribute to the company’s objectives by delivering rapid and scalable data
solutions. Working as a hands-on engineering manager you will develop, maintain
and improve data pipelines, data warehouses, and reporting and analytic solutions
to accomplish a broad range of business outcomes. With a focus on Data
Engineering excellence, you will supervise a team of data professionals to ensure
successful implementation of data projects and initiatives. This is a hands-on
technical leadership position that requires advanced skills and experience in the
modern data stack.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and deliver Data Engineering projects
Delivery focused: Help design solutions using a rigorous hypothesis-based approach,
partner with cross-functional teams, and execute development and implementation with a
focus on value.
Agile and pragmatic: Rapidly and iteratively deliver results in high pressured projects
with the skill to pivot quickly as needed relative to business needs and value.
Contemporary and innovative approach: Develop novel solutions using modern
platforms (e.g., Cloud based platforms like Azure, AWS), languages/technologies (e.g.,
Python, SQL), Orchestration (DBT) and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Power BI), with an ability
to build IP into reusable software.
Structured approach: Bring order to disparate requirements with high tolerance for
ambiguity, very strong problem-solving ability, and excellent stakeholder engagement
skills.
Build a reputation as a trusted technologist and voice on Data topics both internally and
externally
Technology polymath: Experience with a wide range of technology and can learn and
develop any solutions across the full software development lifecycle and application stack
Test & Learn mentality: Challenge our current best thinking, test theories, and iterate
rapidly.
Creativity: Invent new analyses to solve business problems
Trusted voice: Establish a reputation of delivering on commitments, building trusted
relationships with stakeholders.
Subject matter expertise: Develop deep subject matter expertise across techniques,
technologies, and industries.
In addition to the key responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor a team of data engineers and BI professionals.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data projects.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data and analytics.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a data engineer.
Advanced skills in SQL and Python are required.
Experience with DBT and Snowflake Data Warehouse is preferred.
Familiarity with one or more reporting suites such as Power BI and/or
Looker.
Previous experience in a technical lead or supervisory role is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
