Our client, a leading international technology firm, is seeking a Senior Export Control Lawyer to join their team in Connecticut, USA.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and monitor export control regulations which apply to the organization on a local and international scale.
- Provide legal support to the product and technology classification process, and maintain government export authorizations.
- Ensure adherence to export control laws and regulations, export permits, and the organization’s compliance program.
- Initiate legal assessment of export control issues.
- Conduct training sessions and assist the Regional Export Control Manager with daily activities and projects.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree
- At least 6 years of relevant export control experience
- Expertise in U.S. Export Control Laws and Regulations, with a working knowledge of Canadian and EU Export Control regulations
- Ability to assess and execute tasks related to Export Control
- Adequate technical proficiency and experience with jurisdiction and classification analysis, along with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- High degree of dependability and conscientiousness, with the ability to make appropriate fact-based decisions and assess risks
- Ability to review and understand export control agreements, licenses/permits, and regulatory language
- Knowledge of and experience with SAP GTS Export Control tool or similar tools
