CDL Driver

Reports To: Buyer
Status: Non-Exempt
Description: Responsible for ensuring timely pick up and delivery of scrap material and intracompany equipment within the Premium Auto Parts locations. Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and company regulations at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates a Class A CDL semi and trailer to ensure safe deliveries and pickups.*
- Completes and documents proper commercial pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.*
- Ensures appropriate material distribution and secures loads by using tarps as required and tying down loads in alignment with DOT regulations.*
- Hauls scrap, equipment and other materials between the Premium Auto Parts locations.*
- Follows all company safety policies and procedures while operating equipment without causing damage or harm to people, property or equipment.*
- May be required to operate certain types of forklifts or heavy machinery with appropriate license.*
- Follows all federal and state regulations that apply to transportation of goods such as Logbook, Drive time, Rest Periods, etc.*

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid commercial driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. For heavier merchandise lifting devices and/or assistance is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. This is a smoke free environment for safety reasons.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
