SYSTEMS ENGINEER – BATTERY PACK DEVELOPMENT
INDIANAPOLIS, USA – PERMANENT
Job Overview:
The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Pack Development team focused on developing next generation battery pack and module solutions that will connect revolutionary products to the high growth energy storage market. The team member will be instrumental in energy storage systems development ensuring that their products of responsibility function as intended in the applications.
Key Performance Objectives:
- Product requirements and specifications development for battery energy storage systems (ESS).
- End to end ownership of ESS products from concept design to validation and deployment:
- requirements, architecture, specifications, simulations, design of experiments, design reviews, DFMEA, validation, root-cause analyses, and system integration.
- Participation in formal and informal technical meetings with follow-up on assignments to closure including publication of minutes and actions when leading.
- Participation in business development meetings where deep knowledge of product
- specifications, industry standards, and regulatory codes is critical to assessing a customer’s requirements.
- Domestic and International travel up to 20%. Flexibility for additional time and global time zone availability from time to time.
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 3+ years of engineering design and development.
- 1+ years of project/program/product management.
- Solid grounding in scientific and engineering fundamentals and methods, including signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC).
- Strong understanding of materials, design, analysis, fabrication, prototyping, manufacturing processes, PFMEA, DFM, simulation, experimentation, and data analysis.
- Working knowledge of CAE tools such as ANSYS and Simulink.
- Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting acumen.
- Experience with salient instrumentation and equipment.
- Ability to create mathematical models and perform parametric studies, simulations.
- Familiar with control logic documentation standards, flow diagrams, and communication protocols.
- Ability to follow safety protocols.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective at managing multiple, concurrent projects.

- Embedded firmware/software and software application development experience a plus.
- Lithium-ion battery systems engineering experience a plus.

- Automotive CAN communication experience a plus.
