Join a close-knit team at a family-owned gallery with world-class art, hands-on work, and long-term career growth in a creative environment. As an art handler you will be responsible for hands-on art handling duties, as well as coordinating shipping and logistics for our gallery.
ART HANDLING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle, pack, and install artwork at private offices and residences, as well as in our galleries, ensuring professional security and transportation in accordance with museum standards.
- Assist the gallery director with labeling artworks and performing condition reports; expertly store and track artwork in our gallery storage spaces and warehouses according to museum standards.
- Anticipate deliveries and installations, taking all necessary steps to streamline incoming and outgoing processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and usability of galleries and warehouses, taking a proactive approach to organization.
SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS DUTIES:
- Work under the guidance of the gallery director to prepare shipping estimates for both inbound and outbound photographs.
- Collaborate with external shipping companies to ensure timely and secure transport.
- Coordinate local transport and occasional third-party art handling, packing, and crating services.
- Inventory supplies and implement reuse/recycling policies.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Work enthusiastically and diplomatically with the gallery team.
- Exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor with clients, serving as a positive ambassador for the gallery.
- Communicate respectfully with all team members and clients.
- Availability to work five days a week, between 10 AM and 6 PM. The gallery operates Monday to Saturday during the season and Tuesday to Saturday in the summer. During the season, you may select one day off during the week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Florida driver’s license and comfort driving a sprinter van.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to take direction and ask for assistance as needed to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to execute tasks precisely while remaining adaptable and eager to learn new skills.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, along with a strong understanding of safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; capable of shifting between warehouse, client, and office settings while maintaining effective communication.
- Capability to safely lift 50+ lbs individually and 75+ lbs as part of a team.
