Our client, a regional bank, is looking to expand their Risk and Controls Director function for their banking division. This would be a hybrid role in NYC or LI locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment & Management: Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks within the business lines, ensuring alignment with organizational risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Control Framework Development: Design, implement, and maintain an effective control framework that addresses identified risks, ensuring processes are documented and communicated clearly.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business unit leaders to foster a strong risk culture, providing guidance on risk management practices and controls.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on risk and control frameworks, ensuring all employees understand their role in the risk management process.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and control metrics; regularly report on risk exposure and control effectiveness to senior management and relevant committees.
- Incident Management: Oversee the investigation and resolution of operational incidents, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into risk management practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all risk and control practices comply with relevant regulatory standards and internal policies; assist in audits and regulatory examinations as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process enhancements and control improvements, leveraging industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, CRCM) is a plus.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in risk management, internal controls, or related fields within the banking or financial services industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of banking operations, regulatory landscape, and risk management frameworks
This role would pay between $210,000 - 240,000
