Position Summary:
Provides strategic direction, tactical planning and operational oversight for all Human Resource functions including Recruitment, Compensation, Benefits, Team Member Services, Training, Communications, and Employee Relations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Promotes superior guest service
- Maintains, and perpetuates a positive organizational culture according to the principles of the Spirit of Tâlícn and the Core Values of ilani
- Direct responsibility of all areas outlined within the position summary
- Develop partnerships with all departments to foster property goals and guest service excellence
- Provides strong leadership to the property by executing programs for team members which foster positive attitudes toward company goals
- Designs, develops, and implements strategic planning activities within the human resources platform
- Develops the annual operating and capital budgets aligned with the Human Capital Plan strategies and effects appropriate controls and measurements to judge success in meeting the approved budgets
- Provides guidance and advice to all senior leaders within the company as it relates to human resource activities, application of employment-related laws and company policies
- Champions the communication of the shared vision of great guest service to all team members
- Identifies all service barriers and acts to eliminate those barriers
- Recognizes and rewards outstanding service providers and works to improve under-performing service providers
- Facilitates the creation and measurement of performance metrics
- Evaluates all areas of responsibility for continuous improvement opportunities and develops plans to implement process improvements
- Administers all Human Resource company policies and procedures
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with preference, gaming regulations and internal controls along with all Tribal, Local, State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations
- Provides leadership coaching, career development and professional guidance to those positions within the direct reporting lines
- Serves as a member of the Executive and Operational Leadership Committees
- Enforces policies and procedures as required by HIPAA, Confidentiality and Privacy laws and rules
Competencies:
- Designs, develops, and implements strategic planning activities with sufficient detail to append associated budgets and goals
- Designs, develops, and implements preventive labor policies, procedures, and programs to maintain a union-free work environment
- Effective utilization of evaluation programs
- Excellent presentation design and delivery skills
- Aligns enterprise business goals with human capital development plans and strategies
- Demonstrates knowledge of all elements of change management actions
Training Requirements:
- Executive Leadership Development programs
- CER and purchasing procedures
- Completion of all system training programs (i.e., Infinium, Stratton Warren. Kronos, or other applicable system training)
Minimum Education and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field plus ten (10) years of progressive Human Resources/Guest Service management experience, and at least five (5) years of Director level experience in Human Resources within a high volume, complex casino and/or hospitality environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment
- Demonstrated knowledge in Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Communications, Training, Recruitment, and Guest Experience Improvement
- Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable employment laws and regulations as well as negotiations, budgeting, and strategic planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Human Resource Professional certification is preferred (i.e., PHR/SPHR)
- Indian gaming experience and preference rights preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Office work environment
- Must be able to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time
- Must be able to stand for public presentations and lead classroom training programs
- Travel may be required
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
- Must be willing to work in a smoking environment
- Must be willing to adhere to company safety measures
