Company in the 77053 looking to add to the team. Calling all Fitters and Fabricators.
Primary Job Duties
- Identify and gather materials according to job specifications.
- Layout materials following blueprint and specifications.
- Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws.
- Inspecting all parts for defects and repairing all air voids, scratches, mold marks and thin gel.
- Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand-tools.
- Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
- Shape and smooth edges using grinder to match contour properly.
- Cutting and applying materials.
- Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
- Spray chopped fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto prepared molds or dyes using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments.
- Refinishing a wide range of surfaces in commercial environments.
- Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management.
- Capable of working alone on more than one applicable craft and its skills.
- Organizing and managing equipment required to complete daily tasks.
- Perform Hydrotest
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Skill Requirements
- Basic knowledge of hand tools:
- Hammer, Wrench, Tape Measure, Levels 1’ to 12 ‘, Calculator, Protractor, Center Finder, and Travel Points/Compass
- Experience with Pneumatic/Electric Tools:
- Jigsaw, Sawzall, Diamond Center, Grinder, Pencil Grinder, Skill Saw, Hand Drill, Hole Saw, Band Saw, Lathe
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Strong attention to detail and number accuracy
- Good understanding of Vinyl Ester, Polyester, and Epoxy Resins
- Experience operating an Overhead Crane and Forklift safely
- The ability to multi-task, follow-through, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce effectively and professionally
- Ability to take initiative with minimal direction
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in FRP pipefitting
- 1-5 years of experience working with FRB/Fiberglass composites (Boat, Transportation, Industrial, Commercial Industries)
- Experience in mold preparation, layup processes and FRP fabrication
Physical Requirements
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
Working Conditions
- Exposure to natural environmental temperatures, humidity or wetness.
- Wet, dirty, uneven surfaces and walkways.

- Exposure to work in an industrial environment, including areas with low headroom, difficult access.
- Ability to work around and use hazardous chemicals with proper PPE.
