Description:
Piedmont Eastside, Cardiac Care Unit, PRN
This 18-bed cardiac unit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients. The typical patient population found in the CCU includes patients with diagnosis such as chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy and pulmonary embolism. Our unit is a hybrid unit and consists of acute, intermediate, and intensive level of care patients. Our nursing staff consists of both tele and ICU nurses. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4 when caring for non-ICU patients and 1:2 (sometimes 1:3) when caring for ICU patients. Our ICU nurses may experience a 1:1 patient ratio when handling the higher acuity patients that are on devices such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella. Our nursing staff works closely with our cardiologists and vascular surgeons along with their teams to provide exceptional patient care. If you are interested in working with a knowledgeable and close-knit group of healthcare professionals, then the Cardiac Care Unit is the place for you.
