Metallurgist needed at an aluminum finishing company to analyze production processes, products, perform testing, and failure analysis within ASTM guidelines. Will provide communications to customer and suppliers. Participate in the company’s Continuous Improvement efforts. This job is in Mississippi, about 60 miles away.
The company provides an excellent relocation package. Looking for people who have experience working extensively with rolled aluminum.
· Audit manufacturing processes. Use ISO methods to increase efficiency, quality and continuous improvement.
· Prepare and present training in metallurgy.
· Manage failure analysis process, including the identification and correction of problems.
· Conduct process check, sign certifications, ensure that testing is done to customers’ specifications.
· Monitor new products and processes to reduce costs, increasing efficiency, and increasing quality of company products.
· Manage gage calibration
· Review test reports to determine if physical characteristics of sample specimens meet metallurgical specifications, quality control standards, and customer performance requirements.
· Advise production supervisors of processing defects.
· Advise metallurgical personnel on problems in quality, and on testing techniques.
BS in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or Materials Science plus 5-7 years’ experience working in a metals lab as a metallurgist. Must be able to run all lab equipment and do a variety of metals tests.
Experience working at an aluminum mill, aluminum finisher, aluminum slitting, extrusion, or billet making is highly preferred.
