Legal Specialist
Location: Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, FL
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Schedule: Full-Time

Compensation: Starting salary of $40,000, with opportunities for salary increases based on experience. Comprehensive benefits package, including a 401(k) retirement plan, life, health, and disability insurance, and paid time off (3 weeks PTO and holidays).
Job Overview:
A nonprofit legal services organization in the tenant advocacy space is seeking a dedicated and organized Legal Specialist to provide critical support within its Tenants’ Rights Unit. This organization serves low-income communities, addressing issues in public, private, and Section 8 housing. The Legal Specialist will be instrumental in assisting the Expanded Representation Program, supporting individuals facing eviction, housing discrimination, and other legal challenges. This role is ideal for someone with basic experience in legal support work and a strong commitment to tenant rights and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation: Draft and file legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Client Support: Conduct intake, organize client meetings, and provide ongoing client communication.
- Case Management: Assist in weekly case reviews, maintain organized and up-to-date client files, and support attorneys with various administrative tasks.
- Administrative Duties: Handle office support tasks such as scheduling, editing documents, creating case files, and performing notary services as needed.
- File Management: Organize, scan, and maintain legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
Required Skills:
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., Legal Server) is a plus.
- Confidentiality: Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Team Collaboration: Self-motivated to work independently, with the capacity to collaborate effectively to achieve team goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Basic knowledge of real estate principles and document drafting is preferred.
- Legal experience is valued but not required, making this a solid role for candidates with entry-level experience in legal services.
