We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The ideal candidate is proficient at multi-tasking and able to handle numerous responsibilities concurrently under demanding circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing Legal Documents: The Legal Administrative Assistant is chiefly responsible for typing, drafting, editing, and preparing a variety of legal court documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and other forms of correspondence.
- Document Management: The role requires the organization and tracking of critical case documents, including pleadings and large volumes of discovery documents. The ability to perform electronic filings/e-filing with courts and agencies is essential.
- File Maintenance: The assistant will be expected to maintain both electronic and physical files to ensure records are easy to access and the filing system is well organized.
- Communication & Coordination: Effective communication and coordination with attorneys and paralegals is crucial to provide relevant information and to ensure the smooth running of cases.
- Calendar Updates & Monitoring: The candidate will be responsible for updating, coordinating, and following up on complex calendars to meet court and statutory deadlines.
- Record Keeping & Disposal: Ensuring that concluded legal matters are fully recorded in the electronic document management system and ensuring appropriate disposal of physical documents is a key part of this role.
Qualifications:
- 2-3+ years of experience as a legal assistant, legal administrative assistant, or similar legal role.
- Previous experience e-filing in state and/or federal courts.
- Bachelor's degree, Legal Administrative certificate, or Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Familiarity with legal software such as NetDocs, Microsoft Suite.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
