seeking a skilled Controls Project Engineer to join their growing team. The Controls Project Engineer will be responsible for hardware/software design and programming for building automation systems. The role will involve applying engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects, designing and procuring cost effective controls solutions to meet project requirements and working directly on the project team to perform project commissioning and startup.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.
- Responsible for designing and programming activities utilizing direct digital controls and automation systems for comfort control and energy savings.
- Responsible for the sequence of operations which meet the project requirements.
- Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Possesses knowledge of air conditioning systems and controls.
- Validates the engineered bill of material costs.
- Responsible for vendor purchase orders under Project Manager’s direction.
- Responsible for reviewing contract documents and conducting job surveys.
- Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.
- Responsible for creating installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings and final validation of system operation.
- Provides engineering direction and support to other team members.
- Develops control programming and graphics for control systems.
- Assists project team with programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphic development, test and startup.
- Provides customer training.
- Manages multiple projects.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communication with staff, as needed, and providing customer feedback.
- Some travel with occasional overnight stays.
- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or a combination of three to four years’ experience with controls/mechanical systems.
- Computer programming experience is required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project and engineering drawing tools.
- Familiarity with the concepts of new construction, renovation/retrofit, and service project management.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems and managing subcontractors.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in using Project Management Tools.
- Familiarity with the operation of energy management systems, HVAC systems, and temperature controls.
- Tridium Niagara and/or Alerton experience preferred.
- Honeywell experience highly preferred
