The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select the best suppliers, analyze trends, follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with key departments, including sales, operations, and finance, to ensure procurement activities align with business objectives and operational requirements.
- Proactively identify and address risks related to supply chain interruptions, supplier challenges, or market volatility that could impact procurement operations.
- Conduct supplier research, solicit quotes, and evaluate proposals to identify the best sources for quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure optimal deals for the company.
- Generate and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in terms of specifications, quantities, and compliance with company protocols.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers through effective communication, addressing any issues that arise and collaborating on solutions for timely delivery.
- Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and new developments in the industry. Research and evaluate new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Work closely with the Inventory Control team to manage stock levels, anticipate future demand, and ensure timely product availability without overstocking.
- Ensure that all purchased items meet quality standards and address any discrepancies or issues in collaboration with the procurement team.
- Track and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon terms and timely renewals.
- Analyze procurement-related costs and budget constraints, aiming to optimize expenditures while maintaining product quality.
- Evaluate supplier performance using key performance metrics and report trends and concerns to the procurement manager to inform strategic decisions.
- Support company initiatives focused on improving quality, reducing costs, enhancing product delivery, and shortening cycle times.
- Adhere to ethical procurement standards, ensuring fair and transparent sourcing practices in line with legal regulations.
- Continuously seek out opportunities to improve procurement processes and contribute to the overall efficiency of the department.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience or familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is a plus.
- Background in purchasing within automotive or manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer satisfaction for internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, take initiative, and be resourceful in problem-solving.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills are essential.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while demonstrating accountability for assigned tasks.
- Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities while maintaining focus on achieving goals and deadlines.
