General Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the finance department, responsible for accurately maintaining business transaction details that reflect and document the organization’s financial activities. This role is both challenging and highly visible, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions and support deliverables for external stakeholders. As the company moves toward SOX compliance as a public company and expands its technical accounting team, this position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and development within a dynamic, evolving finance organization.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and record monthly journal entries over various transaction cycles, such as accruals, prepaids and debt in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal controls.
- Oversee and maintain the accounting for the payroll transaction cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing and associated accounting entries.
- Provide data and analysis as needed to external auditors and regulatory bodies to support audit and compliance efforts.
- Contribute to ad-hoc financial analysis and projects, driving insights to support management decision-making.
- Analyze financial statements and perform variance analysis at consolidated level and individual business units
Additional Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve efficiencies within the accounting and finance functions.
- Support the development of documentation and controls as the company moves towards SOX compliance.
Job Required Knowledge, Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; prior experience with financial reporting systems a plus (Preferred: D365)
- General understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and accounting skills
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a plus, but not required
- CPA or CPA eligible is a plus but not required
