BASIC FUNCTION:
The Corporate Compliance Specialist is responsible for leading efforts related to legal operations with direction and support from the Compliance and Privacy Officer and the Chief Legal and Strategy Officer.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare management, public health, healthcare administration or related field. A minimum of 5 years of work experience is required, 7+ years of experience is desired. Experience working in health care or long-term care operations, or government representation is desired.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Compliance and Privacy Officer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.
* Provide support for CarDon's legal and compliance needs in support of CarDon Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, IT, and Finance departments.
* Support implementation of the CarDon compliance plan and monitoring activities, including the annual risk assessment, compliance hotline, and high-risk events.
* Supports operational and regulatory compliance and audit activities according to the compliance work plan.
* Support and/or perform policy & procedure development, licensure & disclosure filings, information collection for insurance renewals, triple-check and other reimbursement processes, CarDon Quality Reviews, and background and exclusion check processes.
* Monitor and analyze regulatory changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders and employees to support ongoing compliance.
* Stay informed of emerging compliance and risk management trends and developments and provide recommendations to senior management on how to address them.
* Conduct training and educational sessions for employees to ensure understanding of compliance and risk management policies and procedures.
* Delivers difficult messages or news, or challenges colleagues when necessary; responds to challenges to advice directly and effectively.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Experience with or knowledge of health care operations and laws governing the delivery of health care. Working knowledge of legal issues concerning health care provider licensure, long-term care survey & certification, and compliance. Ability to lead and manage others while also working collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and vendors.
