POSITION SUMMARY
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic specializing in the civil construction industry, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of heavy machinery used in various construction projects. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency, safety, and success of construction operations, including road building, site preparation, and infrastructure development. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of construction equipment, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and safety.
YOUR ROLE
• Manages all small equipment needs, including maintenance, repair, and storage.
• Performs major and minor repairs on truck fleet and heavy equipment in a timely and efficient manner to reduce breakdowns and costs.
• Performs diagnostics, maintains, and repairs company vehicles and equipment utilizing various methods, to include computer-based technology; assists with preventative maintenance (PMs).
• Maintains and organizes the yard at the main office.
• Performs minor repairs on truck fleet and equipment.
• Orders parts as needed and acts as the primary parts runner for the shop/field.
• Ensures the shop inventory and shelves are fully stocked; helps maintain shop cleanliness.
• Ensures the administration and implementation of all shop policies and procedures (i.e. hot work, confined space, lockout/Tag out) conducive to an OSHA environment.
• Performs the highest quality of work in the shop.
• Turns in daily individual reports to the Mechanics Foreman.
• Performs additional responsibilities, as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in the civil construction industry, with a focus on repairing and maintaining construction equipment.
• Strong knowledge of construction equipment systems, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Certification from a technical school or equivalent experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Physical strength and stamina to tackle the demands of the job.
• A sharp eye for detail, ensuring the quality of every project is unmatched.
• The ability to work across diverse locations and shifting schedules. Your adaptability is paramount, especially when weekend or overtime beckons.
• Stellar communication skills, a keen sense of urgency, and a collaborative spirit that underlines our team ethos.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
For a Civil Construction Heavy Equipment Mechanic, physical fitness and agility are fundamental. The role demands the ability to lift and maneuver heavy machinery parts, often weighing over 50 pounds, to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently. Climbing onto and into heavy machinery is routine, requiring agility and balance. Manual dexterity is essential for handling tools and intricate components, while the ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for extended periods facilitates thorough inspections and repairs. Additionally, working in outdoor environments amidst various weather conditions necessitates adaptability and resilience.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed, overnight or out of town stay may be required.
PRE-SCREEN
