Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Buyer for ourNorthStyle Catalog, a key position at our corporate office in North Billerica, Massachusetts. The NorthStyle brand is a unique boutique of women’s classic clothing that carries a mix of stylish apparel, accessories, and jewelry. In this role, the Senior Buyer is the primary merchant for the print catalog, internet and mobile websites.
The successful candidate will have a background in these product categories as well as strong analytical skills, product selection and experience in creation of a printed catalog. A history of meeting financial targets with a proven record of success in a growth driven and multifaceted retail environment is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize reports to assemble an appropriate assortment of products based on category, price point, and imports sales analysis.
- Shop domestic and foreign markets for existing product; work with Product Development Dept. to design and source exclusive private label and direct import items.
- Responsible for price negotiations, product logistics, and vendor relations.
- Oversee all creative efforts, layouts, copy, positioning and photography.
- Coordinate with catalog production manager to meet creative deadlines.
- Work with QC, Customer Service and the warehouse to resolve customer issues and address high return products.
- Communicate with Rebuyer and Inventory Control Manager to achieve timely deliveries and manage excess inventory.
- Oversee and train buyers and assistants in order to further individual growth and meet the Company's budget targets.
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
- Travel domestically and internationally to meet with vendors and attend trade shows.
- Supervise and give direction to Buyers, Assistant/Associate Buyers and other Merchandising and Creative staff.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training.
- Must have prior experience in apparel sourcing, market and trend analysis, and fashion retail buying.
- Must have strong analytical and negotiation skills, and proven ability to develop successful product strategies that drive sales and profitability.
- Ability to travel to domestic and overseas markets.
