Position Overview:
The Right of Way Agent plays a crucial role in managing and facilitating the acquisition of right-of-way (ROW) for the transmission and distribution of electrical power. This position involves collaborating with landowners, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while promoting the organization’s interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- ROW Acquisition: Identify, negotiate, and acquire easements and rights-of-way for transmission and distribution projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, governmental entities, and community organizations to facilitate smooth ROW acquisition processes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all ROW activities comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Project Support: Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to provide ROW support for new projects and upgrades.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of ROW agreements, negotiations, and correspondence.
- Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve disputes with landowners or stakeholders regarding ROW issues in a professional manner.
- Site Assessments: Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify potential ROW needs and evaluate environmental impacts.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with property laws, regulations, and best practices in ROW management.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in GIS and mapping software is a plus.
