Grants and Program Director
Classification: Full-time

Position Type: Hybrid (In-office 3 days per week minimum, 5 days preferred)
About Us:
Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF) is dedicated to strengthening the communities of Essex County, Massachusetts, by promoting philanthropy, managing charitable funds, and working collaboratively to address critical community issues. We are seeking a strategic and passionate Grants and Program Director to join our team. This role is vital in leading the development and management of our grant programs, ensuring operational efficiency, and evaluating program outcomes to further ECCF’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Manage Grant Programs
- In collaboration with other relevant departments, lead the design and execution of both legacy and future grant initiatives to ensure strategic alignment with the organization's priorities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and committees to create grant program goals, strategies, budgets, and timelines.
- Grant and Distribution Strategy
- Work collaboratively across the team to create a unified grant-making and distribution strategy that aligns all grant programs with ECCF’s community leadership and grant program’s process, values, and philosophy.
- Engage with the Board of Directors and senior leadership to ensure the strategy is consistent with ECCF’s mission and vision.
- Integrate ongoing insights from community needs and priorities into the overall grant distribution approach centered in equity and inclusion.
- Create a Growth Strategy for Additional Grant Funds
- Develop a strategy across department leads to cultivate new “field of interest” grant funds in targeted areas that align with the needs of the communities we serve.
- Engage with community leaders and donors to identify emerging needs and opportunities for focused grant-making.
- Ensure that new grant programs are responsive to the evolving priorities of Essex County.
- Oversee Grant Operations
- Manage the full life cycle of grant-making processes, including application reviews, award distribution, evaluation, statements of operation and compliance monitoring.
- Provide technical assistance to grant applicants and awardees and other ECCF Grant makers.
- Maintain accurate records of grant activities and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines and document all processes and provide trainings where needed.
- Track and Evaluate Program Outcomes
- Design and implement tools to assess program impact and grant effectiveness.
- Prepare detailed reports on program performance and outcomes for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements and align grant programs with organizational goals.

- This is a highly collaborative role, requiring the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders internal and external to ECCF.
- Strong cross-team communication skills are critical to ensure alignment and cohesion in ECCF’s grant-making and program strategy.
- The ability to foster a positive team environment and facilitate cooperation among colleagues is essential.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in grant management, program development, or a related role.
- Experience in designing evaluation frameworks and assessing program impact.
- Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and project management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
