Job Summary:
Responsible to oversee and guide project teams through project initiation to project close, ensuring the teams follow organizational best practices. The Sr. IT Project Lead will serve as the overall project owner, guiding and motivating project teams, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, and eliminating team impediments.
Essential Job Functions:
- Own overall schedule, budget, and deliverables for assigned project(s)
- Use waterfall and/or other methodologies and practices to plan, manage, and deliver technology solutions, as defined by the project scope.
- Schedule and facilitate project events and meetings.
- Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
- Plan and organize project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
- Create and maintain project documentation.
- As necessary, elicit functional business requirements using discovery workshops, surveys, site visits and/or shadows. Communicate, translate, and simplify business requirements to ensure buy-in from all stakeholders.
- Liaison with stakeholders such as end users, vendors, and project personnel regarding defining and documenting project requirements and processes.
- Monitor and report project progress, issues, and risks to internal and external executive sponsors and stakeholders.
- Assist in owning and executing change management processes.
- Guide project teams through go-live and warranty phases.
- Provide ongoing and post-project evaluations/retrospectives.
- Ensure knowledge transfer of project to appropriate support teams.
Other Job Functions:
- Partner with various IT management teams to ensure appropriate prioritization and resource allocation, partner on change management, and champion knowledge transfer/training opportunities.
- Own prioritization processes for assigned projects against overall enterprise backlog to ensure teams are focused on highest value work.
- Train, mentor, and support other project leads and project teams to follow PMO best practices.
- Attend and facilitate regular meetings with various business stacks to review and modify product backlogs.
- Any other additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required, degree in Information Technology, Communications, or related field preferred.
- Certified Scrum Master and/or PMP Certification preferred.
- Proficient in project management tools and techniques, and in requirements definition and management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral, written, and presentation formats is essential.
- Aptitude to accept complex assignments, analyze and prioritize problems, execute tasks, motivate others and have some fun!
Special Demands:
- In-person position out of Viterra’s Omaha HQ office.
- Coordinate and work with others in numerous time zones, including out of Regina, Saskatchewan; Rotterdam, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other EMEA countries.
- Frequent sitting at an office desk with computer for long periods of time.
- Will likely require potential travel to other Viterra locations, both domestic and international.
