The Cost Analyst will be responsible to assemble and provide information to Project Managers within their assigned Business Units regarding project current costs, commitments, and forecasts according to strict deadlines. This includes coordinating responses from field/operations personnel and gathering information from internal accounting systems, assembling accurate reporting workbooks, and interpreting data to predict project productivity trends. Time management, multi-tasking and a strong adherence to deadlines are essential to the position.
Business (Cost) Analyst
All Contractors must possess a BS in Engineering or Business Administration or other related field, MBA preferred; PMP Certification is desired. Must have superior interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational, and presentation skills; Experience in Project Controls and/or Financial Analysis, and experience using applications such as Primavera schedule management software, Power Plan property accounting software, Asset Suite/Materials Tracker/ Materials Dashboard procurement software, and/or Cognos accounting applications.
Job Responsibilities
• Build and maintain cost accruals and forecasts through project completion.
• Review change request/change order logs with Project Managers weekly.
• Gather committed/labor/job cost data weekly.
• Accurately organize and assemble job cost forecasting workbooks.
• Deliver and review accurate forecasting workbooks with Management monthly accurately interpret data and communicate clearly and concisely.
• Verify accuracy of committed cost in system weekly; communicate with Project Managers and adjust commitments as required.
• Assist Project Managers in assembling project budgets and earned value structures immediately upon project award/turnover.
• Assemble and communicate data in support of the monthly revenue recognition process.
• Effective, clear & timely communication of data and trends to Project/Operations Management.
• Assist in compiling scope change requests.
• Travel on an as-needed basis.
Experience
• Minimum of 4 years’ Project Controls experience building and maintaining cost reports for large programs and projects.
• Experience working both independently and, in a team, environment.
• Can conform to shifting priorities due to demands and timeline changes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Possess excellent communication skills to effectively interface.
• Proficient in Cognos, Maximo, SAP, Microsoft Word & Excel, and Power BI
• create clearly written communications.
• Support internal ad-hoc and monthly reporting
Experience:
• Project Controls: 1-10 years or 10+ for Senior Analyst
• Strong Excel, SAP and ideally Maximo experience
• Preferred Major Utility, Transmission, Utility Scale Solar
• Linear experience – Major Oil and Gas or Chemicals Facilities projects, Brownfield Revamps programs, Turnaround Experience.
