Job Description: Municipal Court Clerk I
Salary Range: $19.98 - $23.99 per hour
Summary:
The Municipal Court Clerk I performs clerical and administrative tasks for the Municipal Court. This role involves managing case records, responding to inquiries, and assisting with court proceedings to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate case records and files, ensuring data integrity.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding court procedures, fines, and case statuses.
- Assist in preparing court dockets and organizing related documents.
- Process payments for fines, fees, and other court-related transactions.
- Ensure timely notifications to relevant parties regarding court dates, warrants, or payment plans.
- Attend court sessions and provide administrative support to the judge and legal staff.
- Coordinate with law enforcement and other agencies for court matters.
- Follow up on overdue payments and initiate collection procedures as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Customer service experience is preferred, especially in a legal or government environment.
- Prior experience in court systems or legal administration is advantageous but not required.
