Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor with ultimate accountability to the Plant/Site Manager

Main Function:
Responsible for maintaining plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of PLCs and possess troubleshooting and repair experience with electrical systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair all types of manufacturing equipment using specialized experience in electrical and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Upgrades equipment from outdated relay logic to PLC controls by building new panels from wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Maintains a total productive maintenance program that follows the manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
- This includes all manufacturing equipment, HVAC, vacuum systems, dust collection systems, dehumidifier units, air compressors, furnaces, lighting, etc.
- Assists with handling equipment breakdowns and completes maintenance work requests as needed and assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assists in modifications as described in approved project proposals.
- Makes local pick-ups of items required for projects or maintenance projects.
- Utilizes time between various stages of major projects to accomplish smaller projects.
Schedule & Hours:
6:30 am - 6:45 pm, 82 hours bi-weekly, working every other weekend.
Miscellaneous:
- Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to:
o Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
o 5-S program in department or other areas assigned.
o DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
- Completes monthly safety observations.
- Notifies Supervisors/Managers of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc., and cooperates in resolving such issues as well.
- Provides Supervisors/Managers with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtain additional training as necessary.
- Assists in other department activities as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Requires good math skills and the ability to read and understand instructions and manuals.
- Preferred thorough knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery.
- Requires experience and skills in areas relating to electrical machine maintenance and modification.
- Must be advanced in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer applications.
- Requires experience and skills in areas relating to building construction and modification.
- Must have electrical, plumbing & HVAC exp.
- EPA certification is preferred, not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to transport 50 pounds, operate shop equipment, power tools, and use hand tools.
Environmental Factors & Physical Demands:
- Primarily works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
- However, may occasionally be subject to the outside environment when working on HVAC, compressors, and other equipment outside of the building or when assisting with snow removal, and may occasionally work in confined areas or high places.
- Primarily requires walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, driving, and transporting up to 50 pounds.
- Requires operating various shop equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
- Requires good math skills and the ability to read and understand operating instructions and manuals.
